SERGIO ANDRES MENDOZA
I am back in Miami, seeing where an idea can take me, and excited to once again be a part of my city, a city that has changed more than I have since I lived here last.
I came to Miami because I have a vision for a business, komida : a business for me and my best friends, for small food suppliers, and eventually for everyone. My parents have generously given me everything I need to devote myself completely to this business and to the pleasures of friends.
Miami is not a clean slate for a new life, but I have found it a rich structure that I can only embrace. There is the bias of my experience, the influences of many friends and family, and whatever impressions I once left in the memories of others. I am contending with a different situation, not the potential of a freshly-toiled fertile patch of soil, but the maintenance of a single tree, a tree that was planted long ago and has already grown a considerable amount.
I am excited. These are the best years of my life, and I can’t wait to bring forth this tree’s potential, and live life as beautifully as I can imagine. Living life in recognition of my tradition while understanding that my duty is to create it for tomorrow. Join me in Miami, it is where I am from.
Some Thoughts on Vocabulary and a Word List
I always knew I would like to have photos of my friends on my website, what I did not realize was how important it would be to me. It has been wonderful to carry this album with me wherever I have gone. The call is still out, please send me your portrait. Thanks. Sergio.
